Clara Madaline Jourdan (born Jan. 8, 1925 in Kingsport, Tennessee)
C. Madaline Jourdan of Indianapolis, Indiana, blessed with a long and fruitful life, departed this life to be with the heavenly angels on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 12:06 AM. She was preceded in death by her parents Wm. Ray Nash and Estelle Quillen Nash, her sisters Marie Flack and Georgia Nelson, her loving husband of 68 years, Herbert Leon Jourdan and her eldest son, Carl Stephen Jourdan. Madaline is survived by sons Dennis Jourdan and wife Adriane, Roger Jourdan and wife Linda, Herbert Jourdan Jr. and wife Sue and special daughter-in-law Lila Jourdan who we could not have done without over the past years.
Madaline graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1943 and went to work in a factory that produced the Norden bombsight. She met Herb Jourdan on a blind date with her sister Marie and Earl Flack, a friend of Herb’s. She maintained a close relationship with Herb through letters as he endured four years of combat in the Philippines, Guadalcanal, and New Brittan Island. Madaline and Herb were married in 1946 and had four sons over the next eight years.
Madaline loved the Lord and saw to it that her sons were educated in the faith. She was a member of Lawrence United Methodist Church.
In addition to raising four active boys, Madaline enjoyed a successful career as a Realtor starting in the business at a time when it was a predominantly male profession. Madaline and Herb enjoyed all types of dancing and they were very good at it. Like her parents and her husband, she enjoyed competing in bowling leagues. She also loved camping, gardening, reading, and visiting family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren include Amanda Jourdan Carreiro (Tristan and Kyla), Alysia Jourdan Mallette (Logan and Paige), Angela Jourdan Kirk (Destiny, Dante, Dominic, and Topanga), Don Jourdan (Tony and Eileen), Greg Jourdan, Travis Jourdan (Raven, Gavin, and Scarlet), Sarah Jourdan Craney, Emily Jourdan, Lily Jourdan, and Justin Jourdan. There are currently two great great grandchildren.

Dennis, Adriane, Lila and all the Jourdan family,
We are sad to hear of your mother’s (mother-in-law’s) passing. We were fortunate to meet her on several occasions and she was a very gracious lady.
You are in our thoughts as you come together to share the wonderful memories you have.
Susan and Jim Seet
I will remember Madaline as a lady who loved her family and was devoted to Herb for so many years. I know you will all miss her and you are all in my prayers. God bless you, Madaline.
