ANDERSON- Claude Porter McCann, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital Anderson. He was born on September 16, 1936 to the late Roman Cornelius and Pauline (Cooley) McCann.
Claude was a dedicated Police Officer for the Anderson Police Department for 33 years. He also worked for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department for 7 years, as well as Adult Protective Services for 2 years. Claude had a passion for cars that did not go unnoticed. He loved to fix, sell, buy, and drive any type of car he could. He had a wonderful sense of humor that could get anyone laughing. He loved to spend time going fishing with his wife. He will be remembered for his kind sprit and dedication to the police force. Claude will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Claude is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Judith (McCormack) McCann; Children Mark McCann (Sandra), and Kelly Clensy (Tim); Grandchildren Destiny Smith (Nick), Mya McCann, Aubrey McCann, and Dominik Thompson; Siblings Lenden McCann (Lydia Taylor) and Rodger McCann (Carolyn); Special Friends Roy Springfield, Danny Cluxton, and Jay Jessup; and several nieces and nephews.
Claude is preceded in death by his parents; Sister Wilma Berniece Qualls and Brother-in-law Ted Qualls; Nephew Aaron Qualls; and all his brothers in law enforcement.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Madison County Humane Society in memory of Claude.
A visitation will take place from 3-5pm with a funeral service to follow on Sunday October 28, 2018 at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson
