Danny Joe Swafford, age 69, of Anderson, passed away at St. Vincent Anderson on June 26, 2022. He was born on November 12, 1952, to the late William Mode Swafford and Margaret Alice (Haston) Swafford.

Danny was a graduate of Highland High School Class of 1971. He later attended Ball State University for some time. He eventually retired from Guide after many years of employment.

Danny was a true protector of his family. He was always looking out for his family and loved ones. He was unwavering and a self-proclaimed “old hippie.” He lived his life on his terms and marched to the beat of his own drum.

He loved to watch college sports, drink a beer, and was an avid Notre Dame fan. He rode Harley’s and taught himself how to play the guitar in his free time. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a black belt in karate. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Danny is survived by his wife Cathy Swafford; daughter Danielle Scofield (Steven); stepdaughter Katie Rains; siblings Bruce Swafford, Jerry Swafford, and Linda Swafford; nieces and nephews David Swafford (Paula), Tim House (Shanna), Stephanie Swafford, and Kelly Swafford; several step-grandchildren; several great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Swafford; both maternal and paternal grandparents; son Joseph Ross Swafford; and several aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2022 from 10am-12pm with a funeral service beginning at 12pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
