Danny Lee Jones (75)

Early on the morning of April 18, 2023, Danny passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his friends and family after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. Danny was born to Don and Jackie (Ball) Jones on October 29, 1947, in Anderson, Indiana. He loved being a Madison Heights Pirate, class of ’66. He continued his education at Indiana State University. He was a retiree of General Motors/Delphi and went on to be a realtor in the Anderson area.

Danny was a 3rd degree Master Mason at Fellowship Masonic Lodge 681. He took great pride in being the Chairman of the MDA Golf Classic Tournament for many years. Danny was a member of Killbuck and The Player’s Club golf courses.

Danny could light up a room with one of his many funny stories, bad dad jokes, or sharing memories of the Brazos. Most Summer days you could find him spending time at the golf course or relaxing by the water at his family cottage on Lake Shafer near Indiana Beach. He loved hanging out by a bonfire with the people he loved, laughing and listening to his favorite Beach Boys music and spending time together. Danny’s love for sports began as a player, continued as a coach, and ended as his grandkids’ biggest fan.

Dan is survived by his wife Rene (Gaither); children Mindy (Jim) Dickson, Dara (Josh) Moore, Matt (Amanda) Jones,

Stepchildren Leah (George) Transbarger, Rachael (Jamie) Martin; grandchildren Maggie and JD Dickson, Jackson and Sydney Moore, Dorian and Quinten Jones, Piper Transbarger, Morgan and Wiley Martin; Brother Monty (Tracy) Jones, Sister-in-Law Cindy May and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends Bill (Cheryl) Carter, Phil (Margie) Vickers. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Jones.

A memorial service celebrating Dan’s life will be held May 13, 2023. The viewing is at 9:00 AM with a service following at 11:00 at Christ Lutheran Church. 2751 Scatterfield Rd. Anderson, In 46012. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
