Edward “Eddie” Hayes Spears
July 5, 1957 – October 8, 2021
This October 8, 2021, Eddie took his last breath, surrounded by his children.
Eddie was born in Indiana but grew up in Thompkinsville, KY. After finishing school Eddie moved back to Indiana to begin his life-long career in concrete with Beatty Construction. After a long, hard week of work, he never missed the opportunity to sing in the band at the local Honkey Tonk.
Eddie’s other hobbies include song writing, playing the guitar, riding horses, watching NASCAR and having an ice cold drink while spending time with family and friends reminiscing about the “Good Ol’ Days”.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Margie Schmidt; and by his brother, Herbert “Chip” Schmidt; and his sister, Elaine “Aunt Momma” Headrick.
Edward is survived by his children, Edward “Eddie” Spears and Jackie Elaine; his grandchildren, Emma Spears, Tyler Spears, Meghan Holbrook and Caleb Holbrook; sister, Joyce Vanderpool; nieces, Leann Bray, Morgan Bryant-Spalding, and Paula Adams; and nephews, Timmy Adams and Jesse Headrick.
Visitation will be from 12pm to 1pm on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a service to start at 1pm. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his children to help with funeral expenses.
May each of you find courage to face tomorrow as you rest in the knowledge that we truly care about each of your needs and that we will be here to walk beside you in your journey of grief.
