Gerald H. Schlensker, 85, passed away Monday, February 5 at his home. He was born to Hugo and Coletta (Birchler) Schlensker on November 12, 1932 in Darmstadt, Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
Gerald graduated Anderson High School in 1950. He entered the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He worked at General Motors for 38 years, retiring in 1996.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Mary Bowman Schlensker; children, Diane Schlensker Wilson and Greg (Susan) Schlensker; stepchildren, Debra Vaughn, Mark Vaughn, Dan Vaughn, Mike (Connie) Herndon, and Tim (Lisa) Herndon; brothers, Jerome (Marge) Schlensker and Myron Schlensker; special sister-in-law, Ana Herndon; grandchildren, Britney Wilson and Amber (nee, Wilson) (husband, Sky) Estes; and great grandchildren, Jayden, Tayler, Summer, and Olivia. Together, Gerald and Mary shared 24 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Gerry in death are his parents; his first wife of 46 years, Carolyn Jean Blackwell Schlensker; and baby girl, Debra Kay Schlensker.
Gerry was a loving son, brother, husband, and father. He was the best ever grandfather and great-grandfather.
Visitation is Tuesday, February 13 from 11:30-1:30 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services. The service is at 1:30 with Rev. John Jameson presiding. Burial will immediately follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Gerry may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
