Irene Molly Johnson was born to Sam and Grace Johnson on April 4, 1950, in Walnut Grove, Mississippi.
At an early age Irene and her family relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana. The family were members of Union Baptist Church, and this is where Irene was baptized and accepted Christ.
Irene grew up in Indianapolis and attended Public School, but she returned to Walnut Grove to finish her education and graduated from Walnut Grove High School.
Upon returning to Indianapolis after High School, Irene was a homemaker, enjoyed music and listening to her favorite artist as well as spending time with her family…especially her grandbabies. Irene also enjoyed her morning coffee and a cold Pepsi Cola. Irene was a sweet, loving caring Sister, Aunt, Mother GrandMother and Great-GreatMother.
Irene went home on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her daughter Tonya Johnson, her grandsons Thomas Johnson, Jr. and De’Sean Willis, her brother Cleveland Johnson, and her sister Bonnie Johnson.
To cherish her memories, Irene leaves three sons Larry Johnson, Thomas Johnson, and Tyrone (Tamara) Austin, one daughter Lila Owens, two brothers Willie (Peggy) Johnson, and Adolph Johnson and a sister Carline Brookshire, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
