James Ray Godby, 73, of Muncie, passed away on Sunday February 3, 2019 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1945 to the late James and Evelyn (White) Godby.

James worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He served in the US Army for a period of time before starting his family. James was always smiling and did not know a stranger. He spent his free time watching westerns, football, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved to feed coffee to his horses on summer mornings. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

James is survived by his children David Godby (Heather), Lori Bell (Corey), and Jason Godby (Ashley); grandchildren Dalton, Ethan, Aubrey, Samantha (Michael), Megan, Sarah, Xavier, Brittiny (Tanis), Sabrina, Jaylen, and Dallas; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings Don, Dan, Dean, Timmy, Evey, Faye, Sherry, and Darlene; Brenda Hiday, the mother of his children; step children Missy, Scott, Terry, Dustin, and Renee; and many aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 22, 2019 at 5:30PM at Central Community Chapel. 1004 Indiana Ave, Anderson, IN 46012

  2. My Uncle Ray was a strong man. He never let me see anything but his good, quiet nature & love for family. I have so many fond memories and I will forever hold them in my heart. He always made sure I knew he loved me♡ God took him home, no more suffering.

    To my cousin Ray oh, he is going to meet the good Lord the brought him into this world. A lot of people will be grieving for their loss, but we should be celebrating the life that was Ray Godby. Ray we will miss you we love you and we hope to see you tomorrow, whatever day that comes. God bless the family keep them in your prayers until we meet on the other side Ray Godby will miss you we love you.
