Born in: Sacramento, California
Resided in: Indianapolis, Indiana
John Douglas Messmore was born 7/17/1985 in Sacramento, CA. His Aunt, Lee Ann, and Uncle, Dale Messmore adopted him in 1994.
They preceded him in death. He leaves behind his brothers, Gary Rutledge, and Stephen Messmore; sisters, Melanie Piper and Marsha Messmore. He lived with his loving partner, Sara Flaskerud, and his beautiful daughter, Julia Messmore.
John received his GED and attended Decatur Central High School. John’s work consisted of warehousing and sales positions. John was a very loving, affectionate, caring person with lots of friends. He had an eye for fashion and dressed sharp.
John loved to sing. Even though he was shy about singing in front of others, he did perform solos during Sunday school while in middle school.
As a little boy, he was an outstanding natural athlete. He excelled in baseball. He hit numerous home runs and pitched many strikeouts. Along with baseball, he played football and basketball. He loved riding his bike throughout the neighborhood with the biggest smile on his face.
His family and friends will sadly miss his loving and tender spirit.
*Legacy would like to make family and friends aware that most flower shops DO NOT deliver on Sundays. We will not be open on Saturday to accept any deliveries.
We can suggest that if you would like to bring flowers or gifts for the family you may consider bringing with you on Sunday to the
Celebration of Life. (Plus this will save a great deal on delivery fee’s from flower shops)
May each of you find courage to face tomorrow as you rest in the knowledge that we truly care about each of your needs and that we will be here to walk beside you in your journey of grief.

Who knows what was hidden in John’s heart that made life so painful. It breaks my heart for him. I pray that the people who knew him best remember all the joys and successes he had. I pray that they hold those memories in times of grief. Share with others his stories that blessed people.
