John W. Rhule, Sr., 87, entered into eternal rest on February 2, 2018 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born November 13, 1930 in Anderson, Indiana to Montie Spurgeon and Ida May (Lester) Rhule.

John married Anita Shively (McDaniel) in 1950 and from that union came three children, Deborah Kay Rhule, John W. (Susie) Rhule, Jr., and Brenda Kay (Monty) Russell.
John served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a production worker with Delco Remy for 31 years, retiring in 1982.
John enjoyed playing guitar, music, bowling, basketball and football. In 1958, he wrote and recorded “Rock and Roll Baby” and “Rock the Joint” in Nashville, Tennessee. John “Rocky” Rhule can be found on YouTube. He shared his musical gift by playing gospel music at nursing homes.
Left to cherish John’s memory are his children, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceding John in death are his parents, and siblings, Roy Rule, Lloyd Rhule, and twins, May Way and Flossie Fay Rhule.
Services honoring John’s faith and legacy will take place February 12 at 1:00 PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services with Pastor Dale Landis presiding. Visitation is from 12:00-1:00 PM. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow the service at East Maplewood Cemetery.
