Johnnie Robert Smith, Age 63 of Anderson, passed away on January 13th, 2020. He was born on July 17th, 1956 to the late Robert F. Smith and Gerarla (Van Dingain) Smith.

Post-graduation from high school, Johnnie worked for meals on wheels in his younger years. After his time there, Johnnie worked as a bartender at Meadowbrook pizza, then for Delco Remy America for several years. Johnnie was always ready to lend a hand for anyone in need. He loved cooking, and especially loved animals. Johnnie had that happy-go-lucky spirit and didn’t know a stranger. He could drum up a conversation with just about anyone. Johnnie was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and special aunt from Belgium, Madelynn.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 2-4pm with a funeral service beginning at 4pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Pastor Tim Glidden will be officiating.

  3. My prayers and condolences to you. I worked with Johnnie at Linders On The Pointe1983-1986 for the Meals on Wheels contract. It was Area 6 and Area 3 we delivered to. Those were good times. Pay wasn’t that great but we had some good workers and we all got along. I really loved working with Johhnie. I will always remember him. Again sorry for your loss.
