Julia Anne Sawyers, age 65, of Greenfield, IN died on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Greenfield Health Care Center.  She was born on November 28, 1956 to the late Adolph and Elsie (Day) Sommerfeldt.

She was known for her love of music and attending concerts, spoiling her grandchildren, cats, bowling, the movie The Wizard of Oz and her favorite color purple.  She was a 1976 graduate of Lawrence Central High School and began her career as a Respiratory Technician at Community Hospital East right after graduation.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer A. Sawyers and Christopher Sawyers; 8 grandchildren and brother, Fred Sommerfeldt.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Janet Hilligoss.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis.

  2. Julia will be missed. She had a great sense of humor. When our families spent holiday dinners together, she and I shared so many laughs. I will always remember how she loved just about any dog she saw. And when she started working in respiratory care, it was clear she took her job seriously and that she helped people who needed comforting. May her memory be for a blessing.

  3. Farewell dear friend until we meet again in heaven. Praising God that you are free of all your earthly pain and trials.
