Laverne Austin McKee, age 97, went to be with Jesus on June 6, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1924 to the late Austin and Cora (Allen) McKee.
Laverne was married to his wife of 77 years, Kathryn McKee, on October 16, 1943. He retired from Holland Motors in 1978. Laverne was an active man and rode his bike up until age 95. He loved to play games, sports, and square dance with his wife Throughout life he took his family boating, camping, traveling all of the US. Most importantly, he loved Jesus and was a devoted Christian. He was a member of Park Place Church of God and attended the Pathways class as long as he could. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Laverne is survived by his wife Kathryn McKee; children Sharon Leitgeb and Shirley Hayden; grandchildren Scott Allen Robinette and Kimberly Ann Luff; great-grandchildren Christopher Robinette, Todd Robinette, Matthew Robinette, Rachel Luff, and Hannah Luff; and siblings Reba (Max) Fraley, Michael (Wendy) McKee, and Anita Glentzer.
He is preceded in death by his parents listed above; and 8 siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 1pm at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana.
