Pastor James He passed away at his home in Indianapolis surrounded by family on October 25, 2017 from advanced stage lung cancer. He was 42.

James was born to his loving parents He WenBiao and Zhang RuiJu in ErLan Village, YongSheng, Yunnan, China on July 14, 1975. He graduated from ChuXiong Teacher’s College with an English Teaching degree.
With great joy, he married Kristen in 2005. He graduated with highest honors from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2010 with a Master’s of Divinity.
James put his faith in Christ as a young man and dedicated his life to the cause of Christ among the Chinese. He planted and pastored numerous churches throughout Western Yunnan, China. Introducing others to his Savior Jesus Christ and teaching them to live in obedience to Christ was his greatest joy. James’s ministry was marked by his humble servant’s heart, kindness, and gentle wisdom.
He is survived by his wife, Kristen (Horn) He, and their three young daughters Lydia Yang, Michaela Dan, and Caroline Wei. In the He family, James was the beloved “Old Number Six” and is survived by his parents, six siblings, loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many long-time friends.
Local arrangements are for a visitation Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 1-4 pm at Grace Bible Church, 560 E. Tracy Road, New Whiteland, Indiana 46184.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 3pm at Harvest Bible Chapel North Indy, 14550 River Road, Carmel, Indiana 46033. There will be an additional visitation preceding the service from 2-3pm.

  1. James is a very special friend indeed. He has done much with his life and now tops it by getting to heaven before us. Joy and I have many special memories of times with James since we first met him in 2002 in Kunming. He shared his life and his family with us. We remember many times going with him to his village in China. It was a very different experience for us, but the overwhelming memory was of an amazing welcome and inclusion into his family. We spent many days with James and we were privileged to be part of his wedding to Kristen in both the US and China. We loved James’ heart for God and His word, for his family and for China. We know that his life will bear much fruit in many lives and for the Kingdom.
