October 12, 1941 ~ August 10, 2016
Patricia Ann Wand, age 74, of Avon, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on August 10th, 2016 with her family by her side.
Born on October 12, 1941 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Kathryn McCoy. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1959. She spent many years working as an accountant. She was previously married to Earl Wand.
Pat had a deep love for travel and experienced Europe, the Caribbean, Canada and Hawaii as well as many other destinations. Disney World was her favorite place and she shared multiple trips with her kids and every grandchild.
Above all, her family was her greatest joy. She had lifelong close relationships with her siblings; Mike McCoy and the late Cathy Cummings, sister-in-law Brenda McCoy and brother-in-law Kent Cummings.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughters; Angie Russo and husband Frank, and Sandi Grubbs and husband Bob. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren; Shelby, Kat and husband Ben, Josh, Nicko, Bo, Dylan and Delson, affectionately known as her 'little loves'.
Please share your good memories and funny stories about our mom. We are touched by and grateful for all who appreciated Pat’s happy attitude and remember her with tears of laughter as well as sorrow. Live, laugh, love !!!
Ok mom, I knew this would happen. Both Angie and I are struggling with our grief already. Yes, we had prepared ourselves. You choosing hospice on your own made it a bit easier for us. And being able to care for you, comfort you, and spend those last days with you should have given us some closure. We know we did everything right for you. And we know that an angel came for you and Cathy, Kate, and Woody welcomed you with their love. We know you are at peace in heaven where you know no pain. But we mourn still. Losing a mom as special as you is heartbreaking. It still hurts. We still wanted you here longer with us. We will go on and be the strong moms (and grandmas) you taught us to be. But as your daughters… we mourn. We love you mom.
Pat, I’m just finding out you have left us peacefully. I hate I wasn’t there in the end, but I’m SO thankful I got to care for you, hug and kiss you, and say I love you just a few weeks ago. You were like my second mom to me growing up. I have wonderful memories of watching movies and eating popcorn in a paper bag, sleeping in the camper and peeing in your bushes, and summer days in the pool. You were always smiling and I hope it’s like Disney World in heaven and you are still smiling! You’ll be missed by many. Love you always!
