It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Walter “Gene” Lunsford, 80, who passed away on September 19, 2021. He was born in Lee’s Summit, MO on August 23, 1941 to the late Albert Lunsford. Gene was an entrepreneur who owned a home inspection business. Gene’s greatest quality was his love for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, along with his son, Bruce Lunsford and great-grandson, Justin Chamberlain.

Gene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sherrill Lunsford; children, Lisa Skadra, Bret Lunsford (Tina Lunsford), Heather Lucas, and Bruce’s wife, Patrice Lunsford; grandchildren, Matthew, Danny, Nathan, Sara, Katie, Gordon, Parker, Eldin, Deena, Cole, Kyle, Conner, and Cayden; great grandchildren, Faith, Keith, Josh, Mia, Jackson, Christopher, Ian, Kinsley, Braxton, Aubree, Reagan, Karina, and Callum; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 2pm to 3:30pm on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a service to start at 3:30pm. Gene’s cremated remains will be placed at Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN at a later date. Please check back for updates.

Gene’s family is graciously asking that everyone attending to please wear face masks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with final costs.

  2. Im am so sorry for your family’s loss. I have So many wonderful memories of Gene, can’t pick just one. From my first ski trip to my first house inspection… Rest In Peace Gene.

  3. So sorry for your loss. I remember Gene from the Study Group that we had in Trafalgar, Indiana.
    We had some good studies with all of the guys at that time and he was able to teach us a few
    things also. My prayers are with you and the family.
