Aida Esperanza Vargas

Aida Esperanza Vargas, 94, of Avon, IN., went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2017. Aida was born on April 3, 1922 to Luis Aleman Cornejo and Maximiana Garcia Prado in Mollendo, Arequipa, Peru. In 1938 she graduated from Mollendo High School in Peru and went on to spend 10 years of her life working as an office manager for her family’s auto store. On July 16, 1944 she married Gustavo Vargas in Lima, Peru. They spent the next 63 years together until Gustavo’s passing on June 24, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustavo Vargas; parents, Luis Aleman Cornejo and Maximiana Garcia Prado; children, Emilio Vargas and Luis Vargas; siblings, Ines Garcia, Letty Vega, Marina Aleman, and Edgar Aleman; and grandchild, Thomas Vargas.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Walter Enrique Vargas and Susana Aida Goff; grandchildren, Aracelly Vargas, Adrian Vargas, Nicole Kuroiwa, Carissa Goff, Nancy Vargas, Samantha Goff, Melissa Vargas, Adam Goff and Leticia Vargas; great-grandchildren, Jean Carlo, Mara, Grant, Kelan, Reese, Mia and Jane.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Malachy Catholic Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with burial to follow at Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
