Albea Larson Gordon

April 7, 1942 — January 16, 2025

Indianapolis

Albea Larson Gordon, 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away in his home on January 16, 2025. Known for his hard work, generosity, and love for his family, Albea was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Born on April 7, 1942, in Elizabethtown, Indiana, Albea was the son of George and Pearly (Graham) Gordon. He married K. Arleen (Barnaby) Gordon on April 26, 1968, in Indianapolis. Together, they raised a family and shared a life filled with love and laughter.

Albea was a canine police officer when he and Arleen first met. While on a double date in the squad car, they happened upon a robbery in progress and were shot at. After this harrowing experience, Arleen gave him an ultimatum. For the next 30 years, Albea worked as a plumber and carpenter. He was also a proud member of the Indiana Carpenter’s Union Local 60 for 12 years until his retirement in 2005. Throughout his career, he earned a reputation for his skill, integrity, and dedication to his work. Always willing to lend a hand, he was the go-to person whenever something needed to be fixed or built.

A hard-working family man, Albea enjoyed his small family farm, where he and Arleen raised their four children. He had a lifelong love of animals, especially his dogs, having owned many over the years. His favorite hobby was fishing, and when asked about his preferred catch, he would always say, “Whatever fish likes my bait.” He also learned cake decorating in the late 1980’s and, with help from Arleen, started making cakes for his family and friends for multiple occasions. So many cakes were made it would be impossible to guess how many.

Albea was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Albea Larson Gordon, Jr., brothers Marshall Gordon, Orville Gordon, and David Gordon, and sisters MaryJane Gordon and Gelene (Jean)Buckhorn.

A devoted husband, Albea is survived by his beautiful wife, Arleen; daughters, Kathy Davis (John) of Zionsville, Donna Cutshall (Stew) of Bloomington; son, Bradley Gordon of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Chris Cutshall, Holly Williams (Jesse), Ashley Cown, Ryan Cutshall Aamot (Raquel), Rachel Cutshall, Britany McManigal (Adam), Emily Sizemore (Zachary), Travis Gordon, and Jackson Gordon; great-grandchildren, Austin Cutshall, Guage Sizemore, Ezekial Sizemore, Corbin Sizemore, Anna McManigal, Geran McManigal, Graham Williams, Avery Cown, Oaklynn Sizemore, Beckett Williams, and Beau Williams; brothers, Alvin Gordon of Nokomis, Florida, and sisters, Brenda Smith of Greenfield, and Debbie Carr (Ray) of Indianapolis, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
