Alice “Ruth” Smith, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 22, 2018. She was born in Corinth, WV on January 17, 1948 to the late Charles and Ruth (Keptlinger) Morgan. Ruth graduated from Valley High School in Lonaconing, MD. She then went to work for Rand McNally for 26 years. She was the current President of the Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post 495.
Ruth loved making memories with her children and grandchildren. She had great reverence for our country’s veterans, and spend much time volunteering in their honor, specifically with her gift of hospitality and cooking expertise. Her fun-loving spirit will be greatly missed by the many lives that crossed her path.
Ruth is survived by her husband of almost 51 years (December 15, 1967), Donald Smith and children, Morgan (Josie) Smith and Kimberly (David) White. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Makayla and Amanda White, Joe and Ben Medino, Jodi Canfield, Danea Gendaker and families. And eight great-grandchildren, Xavier Winters, Trent Behken, Aubrey, Angelina, and Arabella Gundaker, Ryand and Dylan Canfield, and Alyanna Medina. Her surviving siblings are Kenny and Jo “Bud” Morgan, and Hilda Laing. She is preceded in death by Charles, Joe, Gary, David, Wayne, John and Sam Morgan, Josie Ridenour and David Reckhart.
