Alvin (Butch) Chapman, lifelong resident of Anderson, Indiana, entered into eternal rest in his Savior’s arms in Heaven on August 2, 2017, with his family beside him.
Butch was born in Anderson, Indiana on December 6, 1947 to Marjorie (Wilson and Alvin Chapman, Jr. of Anderson, Indiana. He worked at the Indiana State Highway Department. His hobbies were collecting cars, trains, and Elvis music.
He leaves behind a son, Robert (Nicole) Chapman of Dunkirk, Indiana and their children, Cody, Isaac, Cameron, Abigail, Evan, Nate, Jason and Kyle; daughter, Jody Chapman Hernandez of Anderson, Indiana and her children, Shayla (Jason) Farmer, Blas and Carlos Hernandez, all of Anderson, Indiana; one great-granddaughter, Aria Farmer; siblings, Nancy (BJ) Johnson, Joceline (Dave) Evans, Carla (Jack) Morris, Delores (Shea) Smith, and Tim (Beth) Chapman; and numerous nieces and nephews,
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Hazel (Hensley) Chapman; maternal grandparents, William and Elsie Wilson; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Ruth Chapman; great-grandmother, Ida Barton; and siblings, Mary (Chapman) Stephenson, Diana (Chapman) Wright, Larry Neff, and Greg Chapman.
The celebration of his life will be at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 504 West Ninth Street, Anderson, Indiana, 46016 at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 7 with Pastor John Ray officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Cremation will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral and final expenses.
