Anita (Trueblood) Johnson Mathews, age 65, of Summitville, passed away surrounded by her family on August 20, 2019. She was born on November 4, 1953 to the late Lawrence and Jane Trueblood. She married Donald Matthews on February 25, 2012.
Anita was a graduate of Alexandria High School class of 1972. She marched with the band the year they won 1st place at the Indiana State Fair. She worked at the Broadway McDonalds in Anderson for 19 years as well as Ponderosa, Jim Dandy, and Mangas Cafeteria. She sold Avon and Tupperware also. She loved to bowl at Lucky Strike Lanes and Norwood Bowl for several years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Anderson as well as the Alexandria Eagles for 25 years. Anita was the Past Madam President 3x for the Anderson Eagles. She was very proud of being on the Emergency Management for 10 years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandma and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anita is survived by her loving husband Donald “Mat” Mathews; children Jennifer (Rod) Haskett of Elwood, Michelle (Lawrence) Robinson of Anderson, and Sabrina Gossett (Tony Vasquez) of Anderson; grandchildren Taylor Anderson of Anderson, Hailey Haskett of Elwood, Robert (Morgan) Moore of Alexandria, Mariah (T.J.) Wolfe of Kansas, Megan Bailey of Alexandria, Sara Gossett of Seymour, and Jessica Huston of Anderson; great-grandchildren Noah Neil Cromer of Anderson, Ryleigh Wolfe of Kansas, and Everleigh Moore of Alexandria; Ex mother-in-law Vera Johnson; and siblings Barbara (Bill) Targgart, Lisa (Roger) Rowland, Patty (Roy) Bricker, and Lawrence “L.T.” Trueblood.
She is preceded in death by her parents, great grandson James Gossett, great granddaughter Anastacia Marie Money, loving dog Buster, and several aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Breast Cancer Society in memory of Anita.
A visitation will be held on Monday August 26, 2019 from 2-4pm with a funeral service beginning at 4pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Per Anita, her wish was that everyone wear pink in honor of the continued fight to cure breast cancer.
