Anna Hilda Waiters

Anna H. Waiters of Anderson, IN, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born on December 7, 1951, in Mayaguez Puerto Rico to Juan Alvarez-Ramos and Rosario Cuebas-Lopez. Throughout her life, she has lived in NY, where she had begun her family. Then, to Pennsylvania as her family continued to grow, finally moving to Anderson, IN, where she stayed, enjoying time with her grandchildren. 

Anna was a Pentecostal woman and believed in God wholeheartedly. She did become disabled and bedbound, but that didn't stop her from reading her Bible and singing. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting, and even learning how to play video games. When able, she also enjoyed going to the stores. 

When her children were young, she was known as the cookie lady. She loved to bake cookies, cakes, and all kinds of different sweets. Because of this, the neighborhood would smell so good, making everyone's mouth water to the point that she began selling them. This is how she became known as the "cookie lady."

Anna was a devoted mother to her 7 children whom she was endlessly proud of. She was a sassy, strong, and bold woman full of love, especially for her family. Anna was a widow to her late husband, Jay Waiters. Although all of her children were grown with families of their own, she continued to cherish and nurture all of those around her. 

She was a part of a large, close-knit family. Anna is survived by her children: Franklin (Margie) Morales Jr., Esther (Mark) Bogle, Sokina (her late husband George) Santiago, Ruth (Carl) Moore, Locksann (Raul) Mateo, Digna (Michael) Shockney, Alida (Tasric) Fosque. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 7 brothers and sisters. Louie Cuevas, Eddie Rivera, Ovilio Cuevas, Gilbert Gonzalez, Olga Cuevas and Nora Rodriguez. There are many unnamed extended family and friends who will also miss her dearly. She was truly loved by many.

Anna's life will be celebrated with visitation on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Followed by a service at 4:00 PM.

Her legacy of love, faith, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
