Audrey Deneen (Neen) Griffin, 56, of Indianapolis, IN, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2020. Born September 29, 1964 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the 5th of seven children. Audrey graduated from Sto-Rox Senior High School, served in the United States Army from November 1987 to November 1991 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Alabama State University.
After working in Alabama for a few years, Audrey came to Indianapolis to be near her mom. While here, she worked at several companies, always with the focus of ensuring her son Jacob had what he needed even if she had to go without. She loved Jacob and wanted the best for him. She was very proud of him, especially how he excelled in football.
Audrey had a great laugh. It was so contagious that one had to smile and laugh with her. She was funny, a fun person to be around and a true Pittsburgh Steeler fan. But most importantly, Audrey was a woman of deep faith, and she tried to always stay positive even with things were hard. Though gone, she will not be forgotten, and our love for her will live forever.
Audrey is survived by her son Jacob Griffin, her mother Annie Griffin, her sister Darlene Jones, brothers Derrick and Sheldon Griffin, nephews Gene Gilbert, Taurus Gilbert and Sheldon Griffin, nieces Hope Gilbert and Rachael Coleman, aunt and uncle Marie and Richard Taylor and many other great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Johnny Menifield, grandmothers Frances Menifield and Geraldine Gilbert, her sisters Loletta Gilbert and Patricia Griffin and her brother James Griffin.
There will be a Celebration of Life service to be held in her memory in the Spring of 2021. Please check back at the website for updates.
