Barbara Ann Moses

Barbara Ann Moses was called home to her Heavenly Father on September 20th, 2022
in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is survived by her mother, Ira; her husband, John; her
children, Benjamin, Anthony, Jessica, and Aaron; and her beloved grandsons, Isaiah
and Bodhi. She was preceded in death by her father, William, Sr; her siblings, Alfredia
and William, Jr.; and her uncle and aunts.

Barbara was born August 24th in Phenix City, Alabama to William and Ira Sims.
Because her father was in the military, throughout her childhood, she moved around the
country until finally settling in Indianapolis as a teenager. She graduated from Arlington
High School before following in her father’s footsteps by joining the military in 1975.
During her service in the Army, she was stationed in places like Texas, Chicago,
Massachusetts, Missouri, and her favorite assignment, Germany. Upon her retirement
from active service in 1992, Barbara again settled in Indianapolis working as a manager
for the Defense Finance & Accounting Service. She went on to get her Bachelor’s degree
from Indiana Wesleyan University in Business Management.

Family was incredibly important to Barbara. She and her husband, John, met while in
the military and were best friends for years before tying the knot. With his help, she
made sure to provide the best possible life for their children. Barbara was kind, loving,
affectionate, and selfless when it came to her family, her children especially. She was a
mom that would do anything for her children, including quite literally running into a
fire to save one of her children. Her love for her family was fierce, all-encompassing,
eternal, and unconditional.

Visitation is planned for Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at Lawrence United
Methodist Church, 5200 Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46226, from 12 pm – 2 pm
with a funeral service to immediately follow. Please continue to keep the family in your
