Barry "Joe" Willis

Barry “Joe” Willis, age 69, of Anderson, passed away at home on November 1, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a sudden battle with cancer. He was born on March 18, 1952 to Aden and Vella Willis.

Joe served in the United States Navy and was a proud Vietnam veteran. He worked at General Motors and then became self employed as a tree-trimmer and painter. His main hobby in life was spending time with his family as much as he could. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, poker nights with family, and watching Nascar and football. He would do anything for anyone. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe is survived by his wife of 26 years, Brenda Willis; children Heather Carpenter (Brad), Barry “BJ” Willis, Amy Willis (Sam Nail), Christina Willis, Tammy Bowen, Timothy “Timmy” Bowen (Pam), and Bobby Bowen; grandchildren Amanda, Cole, Brooke, Jessica, Alaina, Brianna, Adrian, Barry Jacob, Johnny Jr., Trevor, Wyatt, Novalee, Donnie, Ronnie, Devin, and Natasha; great-grandchildren Paxton, Mila, Indy, Craig, Bryan, Rowan, Elsie, Lealani, Daniella, Johnny III, Malachi, Renesmae, and Luca; father Aden Willis; companion Barbara; siblings Roger Willis, Dennis Willis (Debbie), Bonita Hervey (Eddie), and Lita Willis; and several nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother Vella Willis, and siblings Diana Magers and Linda Bair.

A visitation will be held on Friday November 5, 2021 from 11-1pm with a funeral service beginning at 1pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery. Pastor Richard Gregg will be officiating.

A Fellowship Lunch will be held at Central Community Chapel following graveside services at Maplewood Cemetery.
