Barry K Sands

Barry K. Sands, age 75, of Pendleton, passed away on April 27, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 9, 1943 to the late Wilber and Evelyn Sands.

Barry was very dedicated to his family. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed taking camping trips, watching football, and going to auctions. He retired from the Department of Corrections after 32 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Barry is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Miller) Sands; children Eric (Malissa) Sands, Parry (Tina) Sands, Bobby (Pam) Sands, Donny (Trish) Sands, Tina (Dale) Gibson, Commander Josh Miller, Joe Miller, Steven (Emily) McPherson, and Tim (Nita) Daniels; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings Don and Jeff Sands; best friend Don Musick; and his fur babies Tootsie, Willy, and Susie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Shannon Horton, granddaughter Jody Meredith, and great-grandson Tanner Tomasello.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion in memory of Barry.

A visitation will be held on May 1, 2019 from 4-8pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Additional visitation with a funeral service to follow will be held on May 2, 2019 beginning at 10am. Burial will take place at Grove Lawn Cemetery.
