Benjamin George Leavell

Benjamin Leavell, the son of Lorine Leavell, was born July 10, 1950 in Louisville, KY.

Ben professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Before Ben became sick, he enjoyed attending Triumph Faith Apostolic, were he was a faithful member and always had a smile on his face. Ben never met a stranger, his kind and gentle spirit will be missed by all.

Benjamin, affectionately known as Ben or Uncle Bennie to family and friends, was united in Holy matrimony to Norma J. Talley in 1991. Ben and Norma were blessed with 28 years of love and devotion to each other.

Ben worked for USDA in Bowling Green, KY for 2 years. Ben also worked various janitorial job around Indianapolis for several years.

Sunset for Benjamin Leavell from his earthly body to his Heavenly body was on January 2, 2020.

Ben leaves to cherish in his loving memory his wife, Norma J. Leavell; 2 sisters, Ruthann Leavell and Andrea Leavell; 1 brother, Joseph Pitts; 1 Godsister, Tonya Basham of Scottsville, KY; 1 aunt, Helen Tinsley of Louisville, KY; and 1 sister-in-law, brothers-in-laws, host of nieces and nephews, along with many cousins and friends. Ben is preceded in death by his mother, Lorine Leavell and nephew, Freeman L. Moore III.

A note from Norma – Ben and I met in 1981 at the Goodwill Industry. Ben was a wonderful husband, my best friend, my confidante and truly my soul mate. I thank God for the years that he allowed Ben to be in my life. I will miss his earthly presence, but his spirit will live on in my heart.

Benjamin’s Homegoing Celebration will be from 10am to 12pm, with the service to start at 12pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
