Billy Joe Daugherty

Billy Joe Daugherty of Indianapolis, IN passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 63. Billy Joe was born in Indianapolis on October 26, 1960, to Billy Gene Daugherty and Gladys Evelyn (Tweedy) Daugherty. He attended high school locally at Arsenal Technical High School. Billy would go on to be a machinist for 38 years before retirement.

In his free time, Billy Joe enjoyed sharing his hobbies, fishing and cooking with his grandsons, as well as spending time with his daughter and family.   

His parents, Billie Gene Daugherty and Gladys Evelyn (Tweedy) Daugherty, his sister, Gladys Jean Earley, brothers-in-law Ronnie Earley and Kenny Gordon preceded him in death.

Billy Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dawn Leigh (Burgess) Daugherty, his daughter Ashley (Alex) Moguel, and grandsons, Christian and Caden. Brother Troy & sister-in-law Beth, Sister Janet and many nieces and nephews.  

Billy was one of a kind! He left a lasting impression on all those he met. He loved his family deeply as they did him. He will be greatly missed.

Cremation arrangements provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, please check back for updates.  In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in honor of his generous nature.
