Bonnie was born in Webster City, Hamilton County, IA. September 3, 1931, to Orville and Jessie Craig. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1948. Bonnie married Roger Madsen, Stanhope, IA, in 1950. They moved to Council Bluffs, IA, in 1961.

Bonnie and Roger had three children: RoJean, Craig and Martin. RoJean is presently living in Prescott, AZ, Craig lives in Indianapolis, IN, and Martin is deceased. Bonnie has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janice K. Lester (1999) of Russellville, AR, mother of Kathy, Randy and Kim.
