Bradley Wayne Smith

September 8, 1956 — August 2, 2024

Middletown

Bradley W. Smith, of Middletown, went to be with Jesus on August 2, 2024 after a cardiac arrest. He’s in heaven, finally singing the correct lyrics to all his favorite songs. He had the talent of singing the wrong words to every song.

Brad was born in Marion, Indiana on September 8 , 1956. He was a graduate of Marion High School, IWU, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor for 20 years to North Delaware Baptist at Royerton Indiana, Corydon Baptist in Corydon, Indiana, and Kingston Avenue Baptist in Anderson. He also served as a hospice chaplain for 14 years. He retired in 2022.

He is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Susan Morrison Smith. His hobby as food critic came from years of Susan’s good cooking.

Brad was the proud father of Allison Behr (Duke) of Noblesville, and Carly Gannom (Alex) of Cowan. He loved being a girl dad/softball dad. His greatest joy was being Papaw to his three grandchildren, Kenley Behr, Abram, and Ally Gannom.

Brad had a special gift and considered it a blessing and honor to preach the Gospel and bring others to the Lord throughout his lifetime. So many of whom went before him and were waiting with open arms to greet him in heaven.

He is survived by his sister, Kim Smith and mother, Sharon Faulk (Waylon) of Marion. He is predeceased by his father, Ronnie Smith and sister, Lisa Smith.

Brad had a goofy sense of humor. And in true Brad fashion, he said many times if he ever had a tombstone it would read, “I told you I was sick.”

Brad requested that there be no funeral. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
