Carline Stinson, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 12, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 14, 1938 in Scottsville, KY to the late Lee and Ruby (Sloan) Stinson. Carline worked at Schweitzer for 29 years and as a Sub contractor for 35 years.
Carline met his wife, Juanita Pumphrey, when they were teenagers and it was love at first sight. They were married shortly after that meeting and had never left each other’s sides. Carline and Juanita ventured to Sturgis a lot, due to Carline’s 2nd love of Harley Davidson motorcycles.
But most of all, Carline loved his family. He and Juanita raised 4 daughters together, and even though Carline worked 2 jobs at the same time most of his life, he made certain that his daughters got everything that they needed. Carline was lovingly known as the “Papa” and “Candyman” to his family and friends. He would “hide” candy for everyone to enjoy. Chocolate was always within his reach.
Carline is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; along with his young son, Robert Carline Stinson; grandson, Matthew Floyd; and granddaughter, Lacey O’Nan; Brother Kenneth Stinson, Sister Edna Cooper and Sister Nadell Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita Stinson; children, Barbara Drake (Herman “Butch”), Peggy Clark, Pamela Floyd (Michael), and Betty O’Nan (Stacey); grandchildren, Sarah Drake, Jason Stinson (Shelley), Jamie Stewart (Jeremy), Justin Clark (Emily), Jordan Clark, Catherine Spotts (Earon), Jolee Floyd, and Jennifer O’Nan; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
There will be a graveside service at 1pm on Thursday the 19th of 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. Arrangements provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence.
