Carolyn Holler

May 20, 1934 — April 15, 2019

Anderson, IN

Carolyn M. Holler of Anderson, Indiana went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2019.  She was born May 20, 1934 to Charles Wesley Van Buren and Melita (Roberts) Van Buren of Sidell, Illinois and born again into God’s family on December 6, 1957.  After the death of her father she was fostered by Chester and Daisy Delashmit of Paris, Illinois.  The family moved to Chesterfield, Indiana and on March 12, 1961 she was married to Joseph Holler Jr. and divorced in 1971.  He was deceased in July, 2001.

She is survived by her son Joseph Holler III of Anniston, Alabama, one grandson Joseph William Holler (Julie) of Madison, Alabama and five great-grandchildren, Drake Alexander Ponder, William Michael Holler, Kamryn Isabella Holler, Joseph Alexander Holler, and Adriana Kate Holler and was preceded in death by her parents, foster parents, one brother Charles Wesley Van Buren and one sister, Alma Parker and a daughter-in-law Hyon Sun Holler.  She also had a sister, Virginia Van Buren whose whereabouts are currently unknown. Carolyn is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was an active member of First United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the church women’s  Lydia Circle and pianist for Church Community Café.  She played the piano for Kingston Avenue Baptist church as well.

She was employed by General Motors, Anderson until the plant closed at which time she became self -employed and cleaned homes for many friends in the Anderson area.  Many treasured friendships were a result of her time living at Harter House and Providence of Anderson.

Her life story is one of hardship having lost her father as a child.  She was a hardy soul who loved people and worked hard with an energetic spirit.  After her conversion she cultivated a relationship with Jesus by studying her Bible, copying the Scriptures, attending church services and listening to good teaching on Christian radio.

The family wishes to thank those who ministered to her in various care facilities and especially her pastors.  A special note of gratitude to the staff of Kindred Hospice Care.

A celebration of Carolyn and her life in Christ will be Friday, April 19, 2019 at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services, visitation from 10-12 noon, service at 12.  Because Carolyn chose to be cremated there will be no graveside service.  Pastor Don Deena Johnson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Carolyn’s great-grandchildren.
