Charles "Chuck" R. Lawson

Charles R. "Chuck" Lawson, age 73, of Marion, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born on July 19, 1951, in Peru IN, to the late Dale Lawson and Marilyn Jeanne Lawson Clayborn.

Chuck grew up on a farm North of Converse and raised cattle and hogs. He received many awards at fairs he attended.

He graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1969, then attended Taylor University.

In 1972 he married his bride of 52 years, LeeAnn Wilson.

Chuck became an insurance agent for Farm Bureau and Norris Insurance in Amboy, IN. He later was a successful car salesman for several dealerships, including Swartz Ford, Mike Anderson Group, Ray Harris, and lastly Barry Bunker.

While making his home in Amboy for 40 years, he became involved in the Volunteer Fire Department, the Town Board (president), and Boy Scouts, where he received the Silver Beaver Award, and helped several boys become Eagle Scouts. 

Chuck loved sports and besides playing baseball, he coached Little League and Pony League. He also began a soccer program.

He was a member of Converse Church of Christ, and served as a Deacon, was leader of buildings and grounds, usher, and sang in the choir. He loved being a servant for the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, LeeAnn; Children, Stephanie Lawson of Marion, Amanda (Cory Malone) of Kokomo, and Geoff (Amy) Lawson of Springfield, Ohio; Grandsons Talin Malone, Jackson Lawson, and Trenton Lawson; Mother Jeanne Clayborn of Zionsville; Sister Peggy (Dr. Kenneth) Beckley of Carmel; Stepsisters Lori (Joel) Hunt and family, and Sandra Baker and family; Niece Natalie (Chris) Andrus and family; Nephew Dr. Eric (Lindsay) Beckley and family; and honorary daughter Misty Bosworth of Gas City. 

Visitation and celebration of life will be held at Converse Church of Christ, 301 East Wabash St., Converse IN, on December 16 from 1:00-4:00 with Celebration of Life beginning at 4:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Samaritan Room at Converse Church of Christ.
