Charles Lloyd Vanscoyk

August 12, 1929 — January 3, 2022

Greencastle, IN

Charles Lloyd VanScoyk 92, passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2022 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
He was born August 12, 1929 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late Carl VanScoyk & Luzetta Violet Dennis Moser. During his childhood, he was raised by his beloved Aunt Bessie.
He married the love of his life, Earline Violet, on August 12, 1955. Together, they loved to travel, garden, attend church and work on a variety of projects. She ended up breaking his heart when the Lord called her home on June 8th, 2013 after 58 years of unconditional love.

Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran and served stationed at the Pentagon in Washington DC.

After a crazy & entertaining work history in his younger years, He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1991 after 40+ years of service.
Soon after retirement, boredom struck and he went to work around Putnam County. He tried his hand at a few places before realizing that he preferred delivering parts to various departments inside Heartland Automotive. Finally calling himself retired in the early 2000’s.

Charlie is survived by his children, daughter Amee (Dustan) Lyons, sons Jason (Schila) VanScoyk, Steven (Kathy) VanScoyk, Jerry Woodard, Ronnie Woodard, 6 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 8 great‐great grandchildren. His sister Viola Sims, sister-in-law Mary VanScoyk and several nieces and great nephews.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his lovely wife, Aunt Bessie, his parents, brothers Harold VanScoyk and Gene Moser, his sister Erma June, son Jack Woodard and grandson Travis VanScoyk.

After Earline’s death, Charlie became a lovable citizen to the Greencastle community. You could find him at McDonald’s EVERY day before he set out to deliver pies to various places around town. He considered you special if he referred to you as one of his many “girlfriends”! His smile was infectious and you couldn’t help but have joy in your heart when he was around. He always had jokes and stories to tell for anyone who would listen. He never met a stranger that he didn’t know or at least thought he knew from somewhere. His love for Bingo, hillbilly/bluegrass music, people and animals, set him apart from countless others. You were truly blessed if you had the opportunity of knowing him!

Charlie became a Christian in his early teenaged years. Throughout the many ups and downs of his life, his faith NEVER wavered in the Lord. His testimony was one that would make a non- believer, believe in the Lord’s true blessing. He attended and was a member of Lifespring Church in Bainbridge.

Visitation and service is set for Monday January  10th at Lifespring Church, located at 1700 West US Highway 36, Bainbridge, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 4pm-6pm and service will begin  at 6pm. In a private family setting, Charlie will be laid to rest with entombment on Tuesday January 11th at 11:30 at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
