Cheryl Ruckman

Cheryl Ruckman, 75, passed away on September 22, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 5, 1949, to Thelma Craig. Cheryl was a dedicated educator who influenced the lives of thousands of students through her role as an 8th-grade teacher at Lebanon Middle School.

Her time spent outside of the classroom was enjoyed with her family. In the summers, she ran a campground with her family. She found peace in trips to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island, and especially enjoyed taking her family to Disney parks. An enthusiastic wife and mother, she was always supportive of family projects, ranging from building pirate ships and busses, to supporting her children in athletic and artistic endeavors. 

Cheryl is survived by her loving family, including her husband, James Ruckman, and their children, Ryan Ruckman and Kristin Ruckman. Each of them carries cherished memories of Cheryl that speak to her nurturing spirit and unwavering support. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Craig.

The services honoring Cheryl Ruckman will be held on September 28, 2024. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services—Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to a cause of your choice to honor her compassionate and giving nature.
