Christopher M Gravenstreter

Christopher M. Gravenstreter, affectionately known as “Gravy”, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 73. He was born on March 1, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Thomas and Colette (Snow) Gravenstreter. As a child, the family of nine children relocated to Indianapolis where Christopher would remain to raise his family. 

Christopher's dedication to his craft as a technician extended beyond his career to an ability and willingness to fix nearly anything for friends and family. Among his many talents, he will be fondly remembered as a steadfast conversationalist, a true romantic, and beloved people person. He held a love for sports, from playing little league in his youth to watching NASCAR. He particularly enjoyed both coaching and watching football. His pride in his hometown teams were apparent through football season as he remained a fan of the Bengals and Colts throughout his life.

Christopher loved the outdoors. He could often be found camping, and enjoyed time spent at Wolf Park where he was a member. He was passionate about wolf rescue and preservation.

As a devoted family man, Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Jane Gravenstreter; sons, Michael and Daniel; grandchildren, Daniel Paul, Rylee, Vincent, and Rain; and seven siblings, who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He is preceded in passing by his parents, listed above, and one brother, Terry Gravenstreter.

A visitation in memory of Christopher will be held on February 28, 2025, at Lawrence United Methodist Church, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following this, a memorial service will commence at the same location at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, his family has kindly requested a donation to the Wolf Park in Battle Ground, Indiana, in honor of his generous spirit.  Wolf Park Website
