Cleora was a homemaker and mother of seven children. After her children were grown, she worked as a cafeteria lady at Skiles Test Elementary School. Cleora also became the neighborhood “Avon lady” and enjoyed socializing with her many customers. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a volunteer Eucharistic minister who visited the local hospital and nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and crocheting. Like many women of her generation, she sewed many school clothes, stitched and patched many jeans, beautiful prom dresses and a wedding dress. Her favorite past time was crocheting. She crocheted each of her children and grand-child an afghan. Each great-grandchild received a pillow. Cleora also liked to bake. Her favorite zucchini bread and raisin bread were cherished by her children and grandchildren. Visits from her grandchildren were always met with a full cookie jar filled with fig newtons. She also was well known for her vegetable garden with her favorite summer meals being prepared from her labor (cucumbers and onions, tomatoes for BLT’s and of course corn on the cob). Cleora also became a “mother” to many of her childrens’ closest friends. She always set out another plate at mealtime and greeted them with a big hug when they came by for a visit. Of course, her greatest joy came from taking care of (spoiling) her grandchildren (13) and great-grandchildren (17). Nothing could make her smile bigger than holding and loving on them.
Cleora is survived by her 7 children, 13 Grandchildren, 17 Great-grandchildren and 1 brother.
Cleora was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers, and 4 sisters.
