Anderson, Indiana

Curtis C. McGuire, age 84, of Anderson, passed away peacefully at his home on February 16, 2020. He was born on December 27, 1935 to the late Chester and Mae (Maddox) McGuire.

Post-graduation from Anderson High School in 1955, Curtis served a term in the United States Air Force. After, he began working for General Motors for 33+ years. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church for 60 years, serving as an usher once a month. He was a drop anything for anyone kind of person, never knowing a stranger. In his free time, he enjoyed model rail roading. His grandkids would say “if grandpa can’t fix it, no one can.” Curtis volunteered many places after retiring. He was a guide giving tours at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, which held a special place in his heart, the Anderson Library, Madison Co. History Center, and the Anderson Cancer Center.  He also was a member of the Fellowship Lodge. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara McGuire; daughter Lynda Whittaker (David); grandchildren Michael McGuire (Tasha), Jennifer Woolum, Chas Jones (Krista), Gabby Jones, and Jocelyn Jones; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jack Leffel Sr.; sister-in-law Wilma Gerard; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in passing by his parents listed above, son Christopher McGuire, and siblings Victor McGuire and Allen McGuire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Scottish Rite Cathedral, the Anderson Library, the Madison Co. History Center, or the Anderson Care Center in memory of Curtis.

A Celebration will be held on Friday February 28th, 2020 from 10-11 am with a memorial service beginning at 11am at Anderson’s First United Methodist Church. Cremation services were handled by Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
