David K. Owens, 58, has passed away on June 23, 2024, in Pendleton, IN. Born on June 30, 1966, in, Anderson, IN, David leaves behind a legacy that will continue to all who were fortunate enough to know him.

David dedicated over 15 years of his life to shaping the young minds of students at Ball State University as an Academic Advisor. His passion for education extended beyond the university walls as he also served as a Pastor for many years at Grandview Church and several other congregations throughout his lifetime. His impact on the spiritual and academic growth of those around him was profound.

A proud Marine Veteran, David was a man of honor and integrity in everything he did. His free-spirited nature was complemented by his devout faith, earning him the reputation of being an extremely Godly man. To know David was to witness true kindness embodied - he was the epitome of kindness. 

In addition to his distinguished career and military service, David held a master's degree which further exemplified his commitment to excellence in all endeavors. Beyond his professional achievements, David will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and papa. His family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren.

Apart from his professional pursuits and familial joys, David found solace in simple pleasures such as indulging in fine cigars, watching delightfully awful horror movies, and relishing in the laughter and love shared with his grandchildren.

David leaves behind his children Charles Reid, Michael Owens, Jacob Owens (Ashley), Aaron Owens (Taylor); grandchildren Cole Reid, Ava Reid, Frank Reid, Eli Owens, Jaxon Owens, Harper Owens, Jacob Owens Jr., and Mason Owens; mother Margaret Owens; nieces Brittany Tweedy (Austin) and Heather Hyde (Daniel); several aunts and uncles; special friends Darrell Gardner, Warren Sloan, Van Tuinei, Brad and Betty VanAlstyne; his close work family; and many other family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years Robin Owens, father Richard Owens, sister Teresa Erwin, brother Richard "Dickey" Owens II.

David K. Owens' unexpected passing has left a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. However, his spirit will live on through the memories he created and the lives he touched with his wisdom and compassion. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, let us remember David not with sorrow but with gratitude for having shared this journey of life with such an extraordinary individual. May his legacy serve as a guiding light for us all as we navigate our own paths ahead.
