Dawn Ellen Emery, 64, of Lawrence, passed away on August 9, 2024, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on April 6, 1960, to Anna (Hoctor) and George Bennett. On June 27, 1987, Dawn wed Stephen Emery. Together, they shared thirty-seven years of cherished memories and two children.
Dawn was known for her unwavering support for her children, especially in their pursuits in band and cheerleading. Her cheering could be heard echoing through Lucas Oil stadium, leading the crowd in enthusiastic support for the marching band through each performance. Band events were not the only time her voice could be heard ringing through the home stadium, as she loved to cheer on the Indianapolis Colts. Her zest for life led her to the love of rock n roll concerts and travel, which she enjoyed most with her husband Steve at her side. The two especially loved Las Vegas and taking cruises. Their favorite concerts included REO Speedwagon, Styx, Foreigner, and Def Leppard.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, listed above, and grandchild, Terri. Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Emery. Her memory will forever be cherished by her children, Stephen (Rhiannon) Emery and Chelsea (Ben) Duncan; siblings, David (Johnnie) Bennett and Diana Engle; and grandchildren, to whom she was a proud and loving Grammie, Delaney, Shiloh, Avanelle, and Ellie.
