Dona Jean Coffey Collie
Age 77, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 23, 2016. She was born in Monticello, Kentucky on March25, 1939 to parents Rufus and Lula Coffey. She married Charles Scalf in 1958, remarried Bill Collie in 1972 and together they raised 4 sons, Charles “Rusty” Scalf, Michael “Woody” Scalf,Maurice Collie and Raymond Collie. She retired from Marsh Supermarket where she worked for decades.
She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, quilting, ceramics, and genealogy. Though she was the oldest child and the smallest in stature, she had the biggest heart. She loved to laugh and thoroughly enjoyed being with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of41 years, sisters Joyce Applegate and Linda McGruder and their husbands, Norman Applegate and Carroll McGruder.
She is survived by all 4 sons, and their wives, Rhonda, Becky, and Nancy. Surviving siblings are Wanda Beck(John), Anna Rust (David), Rufus “Bud” Coffey (Carolyn) and David Coffey. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 3step-grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She will be missed by the entire family as well as a host of friends and neighbors.
Services will be 1:00pm on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Legacy Cremation& Funeral Services – Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with visitation from 11am until the time of service. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
