Donald Edford Rector I , 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on November 30, 2022. He was born on May 6, 1948, in Richmond, Kentucky. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For 20+ years he was a bass player for the band, Darrell Barlow and The Country Classics. He worked for George F. Cram Company, later part of Herff Jones, retiring as a lead diecut production worker.
Donald was a man who loved playing his guitar and being outdoors. He was either fishing, camping, woodworking, or working in his garden and yard.
He is preceded in death by his parents Josie Conn and Edford Rector; the mother of his children, Thelma Jean Rector; granddaughters Brianna Rector and Sara Snell.
Donald is survived by his brother Larry, his children, Donald “Donnie” Rector II (Rosi), Daniel “Danny” Rector, Angie (Mark) Wheeler, Laurie (Mark) Holtsclaw, and Jessica Rector; Grandchildren Donald Rector III, Joshua Rector, Heather Godshalk, James Bullock, Candice Bullock, Chelsea Wheeler, Markie Wheeler Davis, Charlie Ward, Ashley Wasylyshen, Kyleigh Holtsclaw, Tommy Snell, Isaiah Snell, Tevih Grover, Cory Grimes and 10 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 12pm to 2pm on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue. Military Honors will be graveside at 2:30 pm. on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
