Dora Lee (Bellamy) Marsden departed this life on June 7, 2020. She was born May 1, 1947 to Reverend LeRoy and Bettie Bellamy in Todd County, KY. Dora was the oldest of seven children.
Dora Lee accepted Christ at an early age and attended church at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She attended IPS schools 5 and 17 and eventually graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1965. Dora also attended the Indiana School of Arts. As a student, she participated in Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and enjoyed drawing.
As an adult, Dora was employed at several major hotels in the city of Indianapolis as a cook and housekeeper.
Dora was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She never met a stranger and cherished time with friends and family. Dora was the life of the party and had a heart of gold. She enjoyed listening to music, playing bingo and watching cartoons.
Dora Lee Marsden was preceded in death by her father, Reverend LeRoy Bellamy Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Bettie Bellamy; her siblings, Barbara Harris, Lois (Tina) Bellamy, Ricky Bellamy Sr. (Emma), Joey Bellamy (Vickie), LeRoy Bellamy Jr. (Linda), and Terrell Bellamy (Lisa). While Dora did not have children, she had an extremely close relationship with her niece, Stephanie Bellamy (Nana) whom she called Baby Girl. Dora will be missed by a cousin who was a big sister, Alma Krutz; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 12pm to 1pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with her funeral service to start at 1pm.
