Dorothy Dobler

Dorothy Dobler, 91, of Avon, IN, went home to be with The Lord on November 16, 2018. She was born October 19, 1927 in Fort Wayne to Robert and Edna Starkel.  Her husband of 65 years, Paul Dobler, preceded her in death as did her brothers Robert, Francis, Walter, Richard and Howard Starkel and sisters Shirley (Edwin) Teeters and Betty (Elmer) Winter.  She is survived by her children: Laura (Todd) Behnke and David (Lydia) Dobler. Her greatest pride and joy were her seven grandchildren, Joshua (Shelby), Timothy, Carys, and Joel Behnke; Andrew, Hannah and Rachel Dobler.

Dorothy worked 17 years as a secretary at the General Electric Company, Winter Street Plant, Fort Wayne. She taught Sunday School and VBS at her churches:  Zion Lutheran, Fort  Wayne; St John Lutheran, Kendallville, IN and Grace Lutheran, Winter Haven, FL. She and her husband, Paul, enjoyed over 20 years of retirement in Winter Haven, FL before spending their last years in Augusta, GA and Avon, IN. Dorothy spread sunshine and love wherever she went.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at her current church, Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9201 E County Rd 100 N; Avon, IN 46123 on Sunday, November 18th at 3pm. The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Arrangements provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Indianapolis.
