Dorothy Gray

Dorothy Gray, age 80, passed away at her home on March 20, 2022. She was born in Hazard County, KY to the late Johnnie and Laura Shepherd on August 22, 1941.

Dorothy was a wild spirit in every sense of the word. She had true hillbilly roots and was not afraid to be herself. She was open, honest, and would always tell you like it is. She loved to go on trips, play pranks on her family and friends, and ride motorcycles any chance she could. She loved her children deeply. Everyone in the neighborhood knew they were welcome at Dorothy’s house. She was a loving mom, wife, sister, grandma, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her children Johnnie Sparkman (Dorothy), Catherine Livingston (John), Carolyn Gilliland, and Danny Gray; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents listed above, husband Robert Gray, children Roberta Gray, Joey Gray, and Irma Gray, granddaughter Ashley Sparkman, and several siblings.

A visitation will be held on Thursday March 24, 2022, from 5-7pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Funeral services will be held at twelve noon the following day, March 25, 2022. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery. Pastor Ed Purciful will be officiating.
