Dorothy Mae (Shemwell) Williams

June 27, 1936 — February 22, 2017

Dorothy Mae Williams was born June 27, 1936 to WandaWashington Shemwell and Earl Rufus Shemwell Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended public school and graduated fromArsenal Technical High School. She wasmarried to Antonya Maceo Williams Jr. for 26 years. Antonya preceded her in death. She retired from U.S. Army Finance Centerafter 36 years of faithful service. Shealso worked for Culligan Water Company and Micro Metl Corporation.

She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Dorothy had a servant disposition. She loved God and her neighbor. She always tried to do the right things inlife. She treated people the way shewanted to be treated and was selfless in her giving of herself and herpossessions. She was also very involvedwith the community. She loved her familyand friends dearly. She loved to travelas she took a trip every year. She lovedto work in her yard and watch things grow.

Her son, Dale “Thumie” Williams preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Gregory Shemwell;daughter, Tracy McDaniels (Robert); granddaughters, Amber Shemwell and ChudneyGaither; grandson, Chad Williams; two great-grandchildren, Kadence and LawrenceShemwell; and a friend until the end, Sharon Mallory; and a host of relativesand friends.

Services are Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12noon at LegacyCremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, withvisitation from 11am until the time of service.
