Eleanor Jane York

Jane (Uphaus) York passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday morning, August 20th. Jane was born on November 22, 1933 and was raised on Station Street in Brightwood, Indiana by Naomi and Anthony Uphaus, with her sisters, Deanie and Judy. She attended St. Francis de Sales parochial school and St. Mary’s Academy where she attended annual class reunions until recently.

Jane was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. She enjoyed bowling at Hindel Lanes, golfing, her investment club, euchre, and loved traveling throughout Europe and North America. She was also a fan of Butler Bulldogs Basketball, the Indianapolis Indians, and she was a devoted season ticket holder to her beloved Indianapolis Colts.

Preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Marvin York; her son, Jeffery York; and her two sisters, Deanie and Judy. Survived by sons, Mike York, Greg York (Joy Hardin), Randy York (Mary Beth), and Mark York (Cindy); daughter-in-law, Barb York; former daughter-in-law, Susan York; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Nick, Colleen, Jessica, Christine, Holly, Riley, Matthew, Audrey, Megan, Zach, and Abbey; and 13 great grandchildren, Kade, Matthew, Olivia, Bryce, Caleb, Catie, Chloe, Rylin, Emily, Mykayla, Connor, Lily, Dalton, and Maddie.

Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, Aug 25th at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Thursday, Aug 26th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4790 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Indiana.
