Elizabeth Lou Young

Elizabeth Lou Young, age 81, of Pendleton, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia on January 17, 1941, to the late William Russell Summers and Ollie America (Sorrell) Summers.

Elizabeth retired from Indiana Bell (Lucent Technologies) after 40+ years of service. She worked for Connecticut Electric as an administrative rep for 10 years. She was a wonderful woman who could be outgoing and fun to be around. She loved to travel, go shopping, go to the movies, and attend her grandchildren’s sporting events. She always had jewelry on, and she owned more pairs of shoes and purses than she knew what to do with. She often collected coins from time to time. Her family was everything to her. She was a wonderful partner, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her.

Elizabeth is survived by her significant other Jerry Swinford; children Lesley Bennett (Donnie) and Donny Young (Melissa); grandchildren Nicholas Bennett (Tyfney), Patrick Bennett, Cameron Bennett, Alexis Young, Braxton Young; great-grandchildren Gavin Bennett, Callie Bennett, Zachary Bennett, Aubrey Bennett, and Carter Bennett; brother Russell Summers (Candace); nieces, nephews, cousins, and several close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents listed above, children Ronnie and Jay Young, and brother James Jarrett.
