ANDERSON- Esther Mae Baker was born in English,Indiana to Sam and Lottie Smith on September 21, 1920. Moving to Anderson in the 1940’s for employment opportunities, she married James Alva Baker in 1944, and they raised four daughters together.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1954 and loved the Gospel, serving in many callings in the church.
She became an “Avon Lady” in 1967 making numerous close friends and winning many awards,continuing until the age of 90.
She was ashy, kind, sympathetic and giving person who loved to help others.
Esther is survived by one sister, Juanita Trinkle; three daughters, Patricia Young,Pamela Nolton and Marilyn (Allen) Francom; grandchildren, Laura Brinker, April(Philly) McKenzie and Zachariah McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Suzanne (Joe)Barcus, Kurtis Kennemuth, Destiny Campbell, Zebediah Campbell, Baylee Munson,and Zachariah McKenzie, Jr.; great-great-grandsons, Clyde Zirkleback and KassBarcus; and many nieces and nephews, including a special one, Linda (Dennis)Shannon.
Esther was preceded in death by her four siblings, Dorothy Hosafros, Charles Smith, Willie Smith, and Temple Smith; her husband, James Alva Baker; daughter, Chandra Baker; infant granddaughter, Suzanne Young; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Rinker.
The service will be Friday, May 6, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Legacy Cremation &Funeral Services, 504 West 9th Street. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and burial will immediately following at Memorial Park in Anderson.
