Eugene Preston Pearson, 82, of Indianapolis went to be with our Lord on December 30, 2020. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Grace (Williams) Pearson; and his wife of 60 years, Constance (Overby) Pearson. They had four children: Joseph, Russell, Phyllis and Rebecca Pearson. They had many grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom share in the love.
The story began on April 28, 1938 in Richmond Kentucky, when Eugene was born. He was the second child, and he is preceded in death by his two sisters. As a young man, he made his way to Indianapolis to find work. Eugene met Constance Overby and they got married on March 15, 1957. She was his soul mate for life. Eugene and Constance worked together in many businesses including automotive, gas station, and trucking company. They were blessed to have the ability to take care of their family with hard work and determination.
Eugene loved bluegrass music, and his band Kentucky Bluegrass Express was his passion. He played guitar, banjo and mandolin. He was a lead singer and the bus driver for the band. Eugene loved biscuits and gravy, the homemade kind his wife always made. He loved classic cars also. You never seen him driving the same car twice, because he liked to wheel and deal. He had mentioned on several occasions that one day he wanted to drive a train. He always had a fascination with trains.
Eugene loved his friends. He would sit and tell stories of the good ole days. He would want to mention Clifford McDaniel and say thank you for watching all those basketball games and wrestling programs with him, you are truly like family. One thing for certain, Eugene loved his family and made sure that you knew it. And above all else, Eugene would want you to know that he loved The Lord. His family was so blessed to have Jesus Christ as head of his household, and he will go to Heaven shouting love for the Father and the Son.
Services will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Indianapolis. Due to the Pandemic, services are private. Eugene’s final resting place will be at New Crown Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
